Scarlet was an impulse buy for Lily at an auction she had gone to with Natalie to buy an OTTB as a broodmare - not another sporthorse. Apparently, Scarlet was a handful on the track and that was why she was being sold. Lily's expert eye saw past all the nerves to the tremendous potential underneath. Lily had years of riding experience in eventing, but had never trained a horse for it herself. At first, Lily didn't have much more luck that Scarlet's old trainers, but after a few months, the pair began to form a strong bond. Scarlet began to steadily make progress and soon they were entered in and then winning three day events. Scarlet seemed to love the variation in the training she received and was more focused than ever. After years of competing, Lily retired Scarlet from competing to become a broodmare. Scarlet Starlet was the horse that began what is now known as Shoreline Hill Stables and remains a key foundation mare in the SHS bloodline.
